紙寮窩 - Zhi Liao Wo

Visiting a Hakka Scenic Spot in Qionglin, Hsinchu County. 紙寮窩 means paper nest. A very old village that still keeps to their traditional ways of life.

So this whole village was started by the one guy who came from China. Last name is Liu (劉). So basically the whole village has the same last name and are all related. 

A whole bunch of blessing that little kids and adults wrote. They write it on a bamboo and tie it to a rod in hopes that their blessings will be heard. 

I wrote one! :) It says for everyone to be happy and healthy. I didn't know how to write healthy in Chinese.. haha. I wrote another one which I'm taking home with me. The blessing on the other one shall be a secret! ;)

It was SOOO NOMMY!!! :)

This huge rock was used to crush bamboos in order for the bamboos to became paper. Used to be pulled by a cow, but since technological advances have been made, they don't use this anymore.

I am soooo tan!! :(

A story line telling about the history of the place. 

竹筒飯 ready to eat!!! It was so good! The reason why they cook it in the bamboo shoots is to get the bamboo flavor in the rice. But I wasn't sure if I could taste the bamboo flavor.

I ate like two of these. So full afterwards! :)
